Strings, latex, beeswax and pollen, 2016
The artwork is an installation of bees, made with latex, scattered around flowers, made with beeswax clay.
The work is based on bees in the act of pollinating. Bees are among the most important pollinators. Without them, we would lose much of the food we rely on.
There is a relationship between flowering plants and bees. A 140,000 thousand-years old relationship which reveals the complexity, the unity and
harmonious structures of nature.
The artwork represents a paradigm relation between the two entities. From that paradigm, a visual diversion is shown to highlight a point of
change triggered by human activities (bees on a bunch of flowers; flowers which have no colour and bees with no flowers).
The visual representation of flowers is partial, as to refer to the lack of colour the environment could be if the relationship between bees and
flower plants were compromised even more than it is nowadays.
Human activities, in particular industrial agriculture, according to leading scientists in many field of studies, have put bees in danger of extinction.
If that happened, the world as we know it would rapidly change. Without bees pollinators the world would lose many of its flowers as well as many of itsplants and trees and we could end up living in a different environment.
